We just got back from what I would say was the best trip we ever had to the family cabin! My Grandparents own a nice cabin that sits on some land near Hackensack, MN, about an hour north of Brainerd, MN. The cabin is tucked away in the woods about a mile away from a very pretty and peaceful lake called Crystal lake. The name fits the lake well - you can see to the bottom when the water is as deep as 12 feet... its amazing. The scenery is beautiful in the area too!
Visiting the lake was the highlight of our trip! While at the lake we went swimming, boating in my Grandpa's boat, and fishing! And, Boy! The sunfish were biting - within seconds of putting the line in the water, a "sunny" would bite!! Sadie also had her first fishing experience with Great-Grandpa, she really enjoyed herself and helped pull in quite a few fish!!
